Wouldn't normally report on this as I don't want to give the impression (which some of our competitors do) that all lawyers overcharge. That is not what checkmylegalfees.com is about. The vast majority of solicitors are honest, trustworthy and charge reasonable fees but there are occasions when things go wrong and that is when we are there to help.

The aspect of this article that piques my interest is that "a sum of £9,634 was billed to clients by Brookes, all of which was refunded by the firm".

Well done Capsticks for doing the decent thing, but presumably those clients had not noticed the dodgy expenses on their bills, and had merely taken it on trust that they were being billed the correct amount.

All the more reason why, if you are incurring legal fees (or having them deducted from damages) you should have them checked by a professional.
